Top 5 Tips for Getting a Spray Tan in the Summer

#5 - Arrive early so you have time to cool off before your spray tan

If you’re hot and sweaty when your spray tan appointment starts, the tan can’t hold onto your skin. Get to your appointment early, hang out in the AC and allow yourself to cool down for a few minutes before your appointment begins.

#4 - Remember to remove your deodorant

Deodorant on your skin creates a barrier that the tan cannot penetrate and that runs the risk of discoloration in the areas that it’s sitting on the skin. Ask us for a wipe to remove it before we begin!

#3 - Wait to rock shorts and a t-shirt until after your first shower

We know it’s hot out and the idea of wearing long pants and a long-sleeved shirt for the rest of the day sounds like torture -plus you want to show off the tan! - but exposed skin and skin-to-skin contact (ie. Legs rubbing together or touching when you sit) is a recipe for disaster. Keep your skin covered!

#2 - Ditch the sneakers for flip flops!

You wouldn’t get a pedicure and then put on a tight pair of shoes to head home from the salon and your spray tan is no exception. Wearing shoes that covers your feet greatly increases your risk of ending up with either super light feet or super dark feet - neither of which is a good look. Wear flip flops home and no shoes at all for the rest of the night until after your shower tomorrow.

#1 - Stay cool after you leave!

We can’t stress this enough. Don’t sweat when you’ve got a fresh tan on! Your spray tan needs time to develop and if your skin is hot and damp you’re asking for an uneven tan. Head home, crank the AC, turn on Netflix, plan to relax in your comfies all night and wake up to a flawless glow.
